Mikolaya (Kaya) has worked as a psychotherapist in several college counseling centers since 2000. She has helped many adolescents and adults address emotional issues, develop healthy relationships, and plan career paths. Kaya has also worked with youth in New York City. She joined Denville Family Counseling in 2008.

Kaya frequently works with women dealing with depression and anxiety, as well as relationship and family concerns. She also guides young adults as they transition to adulthood.

Kaya is certified to administer career inventories to those exploring career options.


She creates a safe and supportive environment in which her clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings, and she focuses on what they can do in the present to attain personal fulfillment.

Kaya earned a Master of Education and a Master of Arts degree in Psychological Counseling at Columbia University Teachers College. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychological Studies at New York University. She has taught college level psychology courses, and currently works part-time at Centenary College’s Counseling Center. She is a New Jersey Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.

When not working, Kaya spends time with her family. She and her husband Mark enjoy the outdoors and she loves to cook with her two children. She is fluent in Ukrainian.
